We will recommend x-rays based on your individual needs.

Teeth survive best in good well-maintained oral environment.  We at Kennedy Sheppard Dental clinic believe in the motto“ Prevention is always better cure. A good preventive program can help prevent prevent plaque related diseases such as gingivitis, dental caries, periodontitis. Bacteria found in plaque-a sticky, colorless film that forms in the mouth and sticks to all sides of the teeth. This if untreated can lead to gingivitis, periodontitis, and even dental caries. The purpose of cleaning your teeth is to remove plaque (soft, sticky, bacteria infested film) and tartar (calculus) deposits that have built up on the teeth over time.

Crowns and Bridges

When a tooth is badly broken/cracked, worn down or destroyed by tooth decay, a crown is needed to restore the tooth to proper form and function. A crown is also indicated for teeth that have been root canal treated, as they are more prone to fracture.

Once a crown is inserted, meticulous oral hygiene is required to increase the longevity of the crown and tooth overall. If a new cavity form under the crown, then in most cases, the only way to fix it is to remove the existing crown, fix the decay and cement on a new crown.

Root Canals

When a patient has a toothache or infection, a root canal is a method of avoiding tooth loss. Inside the tooth there is a space filled with nerves, blood vessels called the pulp. When this area gets infected with bacteria, either through trauma or a deep cavity, it needs to be cleaned out completely and then filled with a root filling material usually guttapercha through a procedure called a root canal treatment.

Please remember: A tooth with a root canal usually needs a crown in order to function again without cracking.

If you have a cavity/ tooth material loss and you may need a filling. This can happen due to abrasion/attrition/dental caries (decay). There are different kinds of fillings material and based on the extent of decay and the tooth’s location, we will recommend a specific type of filling.

Pediatric Dental care

When it comes to the health of a child’s primary teeth, there is no better time to start practicing excellent oral hygiene. Paediatric dental care ensures your child’s primary teeth stay healthy and free of decay and other dental diseases. CDA recommends a visit to a dentist within 6 months of the eruption of first tooth or by first year. Visit to a dentist will help the parents to find out if the cleaning done at home is working. If there are problems, dentist can find them early and fix them right away. This will let the child learn that going to the dentist helps prevent problems and provide a good stepping stone for a child to get used to a dental clinical environment.

Dentures are artificial replacements for your natural teeth and gums. If an accident, a disease or poor oral health care has left you with only a few healthy teeth or none at all, your dentist might suggest dentures to replace your missing teeth. There are 2 types of dentures: partial and complete. For both types of dentures your dentist or specialist makes a model of your teeth by taking impressions. The models are used to custom-make your dentures.

Once fabricated, Complete and partial dentures need to be cleaned every day just like natural teeth. Otherwise, plaque and tartar can build up on your dentures and cause stains, bad breath and gum problems. Plaque from your dentures can also spread to your natural teeth and gums, causing gum disease and cavities. Always remove your dentures overnight to give your mouth a chance to rest. Soak them in warm water with or without denture cleanser.
